"In 2004 I spent three months at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, in a studio managed by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. I made these paintings and drawings during this time, returning to quite a playful and relaxed relationship with my work, I didn't 'finish' much but made endless notes and variations on shapes, colours and marks. Theses pictures are some of the more resolved ones. I feel that they are just a small reflection of how I was feeling during those months; how I was seeing the world around me. Now, Paris feels like a dream. Just this morning I had a dream that I was there, I had stolen some matches from a Tabac and was trying to apologise in my bad French." ![]() Untitled 10 gouache, watercolour 40 x 55 cm ![]() Colour Study gouache, watercolour 22 x 33 cm ![]() Sad Landscape gouache, watercolour 27 x 45 cm ![]() Study for Martyrdom watercolour, ink 22 x 33 cm ![]() Self-Portrait of Spanish Me watercolour, ink 30 x 40 cm ![]() La Piscine Pontoise gouache, watercolour, pencil 40 x 55 cm ![]() study 1 ink 14 x 19 cm ![]() study 2 ink 14 x 19 cm
